FOR VISITORS

As of May 21, Van Wert Health has modified its visitation restrictions. In addition to the screening and hand hygiene protocols currently in place, we ask that all visitors wear masks and practice social distancing. This new policy will be in place until the transmission of COVID-19 is no longer a significant threat in our region.

Please remember these changes are for the safety of our patients, staff, and the community.

• One (1) adult visitor will be allowed per day for adult patients (this includes acute care, ICU, and Emergency Room)

• Two (2) adult visitors will be allowed per day for pediatric patients (this includes acute care, ICE, and Emergency Room)

• Two (2) adult visitors may accompany adult individuals with special needs

• New mothers laboring and delivering may have a support person throughout their stay

• Special considerations and compassionate care for patients at end-of-life, including multiple visitors

• No supportive care persons and/or visitors for adult COVID-19 patients or COVID-19 rule-out patients

Patients and families are encouraged to use technology to stay connected to friends and family while keeping safe from infections that can be spread from person to person.

Additionally, you may send an e-Message to you loved one in the hospital! Send us a private message via Facebook or email us (info@vanwerthealth.org) with the message you have for your loved one, we'll print it out and personally deliver to their hospital room. We pledge to you to do whatever it takes to get through this together.

FOR PATIENTS AND THE COMMUNITY

The Van Wert County General Health District in conjunction with Van Wert Health are requesting that those presenting mild and manageable symptoms of COVID-19 to stay at home and self-isolate. If you have questions, please reach out to your primary care provider. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, and shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. If you cannot manage your symptoms, please contact your primary care provider for further instruction.

Van Wert Health North is also available to triage patients requiring care. If you have increasing shortness of breath, please go to the Emergency Room.

Unless you are having severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, do not go to the Emergency Room.

If you have severe symptoms of COVID-19 and plan to go to the ER, please call 419-238-2390 to let them know you’re coming. Do not go to the Emergency Room requesting to be tested for COVID-19. There are limited test lists available which are reserved for hospitalized high-risk patients. We appreciate the cooperation of our providers and patients as we work through this challenging situation.
